OUR STORY
Our gymnastics program includes Acrobatic Gymnastics, Tumbling, and Gymnaestrada (gym for all). Our club has produced several protea gymnasts who went on to represent South Africa abroad in countries such as Scotland, Poland, America, France, China, Belgium and Switzerland, to name just a few.
Benefits of Gymnastics
Mind, Body, Soul
Builds Strength
The strength-to-weight ratio of gymnasts is well known. The foundations of good muscle strength, endurance, and power can be built through gymnastics at an early age. As an added benefit, gymnastics promotes strength of character - with increased activity comes an increase in endorphins, which increases happiness and positivity.
Improves Discipline
Gymnastics classes show kids that dedication and hard work can pay off if they commit to something. Rules and conduct are necessary for gymnasts to adhere to, which helps them to become disciplined.
Social Benefits
Gymnastics helps children develop life skills that help them deal with physical and emotional challenges. In addition to communicating with other kids their own age, they can also work in a team and engage with adults. Listening, following directions, taking turns, and respecting others are some of the social skills gymnastics teaches.
Cognitive Effect
Studies have shown that kids learn cognitive skills more effectively in an environment that includes the body as well as the mind. As a result of gymnastic movements, neural pathways in the brain are opened up, resulting in increased concentration, focus, and success.
